Brinsley Matthews, Director of Design and Operations, Europe

With a wealth of experience in design- interior and exterior – and in furniture and other products, Brinsley Matthews joined the firm of Dorothy Draper & Co. Inc., in 2007. He works on the planning of commercial and residential projects in the United States, Europe, the Middle East, and in the Caribbean. With a great natural flair and an eye for detail, his opinions are well respected with clients. His talents, developed early. His parents owned and operated hotels and, with them he collected art and antiques, with his late mother contributing to the furnishing of other homes and other related properties. He studied business and marketing at University College, Dublin. His passion for antiques and fine art subsequently led him to study at Sotheby’s in London. There, his previous hands-on experience and natural eye for design were well noted with fellow peers and principals.

In 1995, he established a furniture company in Dublin where he designed, manufactured and retailed in three Irish locations. His career also included car racing. Further developments led for Matthews to relocate to London where he and Mr. Varney developed a business relationship. He now runs the European design operations of Dorothy Draper & Co. Inc., and travels extensively between Europe and overseas.
